All with their original slipcases.  Illustrated with eleven monochrome plates and many maps to "Christopher Columbus", a colour frontispiece and eleven colour plates to "Marco Polo", a monochrome frontispiece and seven monochrome double page plates to 'Siege of Malta', a colour frontispiece and ten colour plates, with folding table to the rear to "The Hundred Years War", six colour engraved plates by Raymond Hawthorn to "Third Crusade", a monochrome frontispiece, maps, and fourteen monochrome plates to "Music, Men, and Manners", eight monochrome plates to "Life and Death of Thomas Becket", a colour frontispiece and eight colour plates to "Sir James Melville", and twelve monochrome engravings to "Twelve Caesars. All with their original slipcases. Externally excellent with slight fading to the spines to five volumes, with rubbing to the spine to four volumes. The slips are very smart with minimal wear to the extremities, heavier to 'Third Crusade', with the occasional slight mark. ¶ Formé à la Petite Ecole de dessin et d'architecture à la fin des années 1850, Rodin travailla tout d'abord dans des ateliers d'ornemanistes, puis produisit aussi bien de petites figures décoratives que des décors monumentaux (façade du théâtre des Gobelins, 1869 ; Académie et Bourse de Bruxelles, 1874). Entré à la Manufacture de porcelaine de Sèvres en 1879, il produisit des décors de vases incomparables. La commande de la Porte de l'Enfer, en 1880, marque le tournant de sa carrière. A partir de là, Rodin put choisir ses commandes et réserver à quelques mécènes sa production décorative (projets de cheminées, tympans sculptés).

Eleven volumes in uniform half calf bindings. Comprising Books I and II from 1307 to 1385. Further volumes extend the History from 1386 to 1400.Sir Jean Froissart's tale of the Hundred Years' War was originally written in French in the fourteenth century, opening with the events leading up to the deposition of Edward II in 1326 and concluding in 1400. This work was a successful and popular, extensive account of the events in Europe, with particular focus on France, England, and Spain. The present edition was published for 'La Societe de l'Histoire de France' by Simeon Luce. Complete with half titles. In uniform half calf bindings over paper covered boards, with five raised bands, gilt lettering to spine. Externally with light bumping and chipping to head and tail of spine and extremities of boards, back strip slightly rubbed with minor scuffing. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting scattered to leaves. Jean Froissart (1337 - 1405) was a Low Countries historian and author, whose most famous work, the current "Chronicles," retold the story of the Hundred Years' War.
